Every student must have a high volume of play in order to grow and succeed. While a high volume of technical practice and instruction is required to ingrain skills, play is what takes the skills and hardens them further to handle increasing levels of pressure and stress. We have found that the players that perform the best are the ones who play the game the most, and they add ever increasing levels of pressure in their practice and play as they improve. Play is not only for the course itself, it’s for your practice too. If practice is solely something that is done to ingrain a movement pattern but it lacks fun, challenges, and other activities with people, then students run into a myriad of problems from frustration, to burnout, to a loss of everything that makes the game enjoyable for them. Lastly, play requires you to play the game with other players who are both better and worse than you are. We have an environment here from our youngest and newest golfers, to our most accomplished and oldest golfers, whereby we all learn from one another. We have a wonderful team of instructors to train our students, but we cannot teach them everything. You must be able to learn from one another to truly play the game at the level that you desire. This is why you will see our oldest juniors teaching in our younger junior classes and our college players and interns spending time assisting our older and more accomplished juniors and many adult students. It is this fun and playful environment that leads to success and enjoyment of this game!
